  1. The One

From the recording Now & Again

The song was actually written quite a few years ago and recorded in an unreleased version. As I was running through short, recorded clips of my latest song ideas, I came across a guitar line that spoke to me. I started working with it and realized that it worked with the verses of my old version of "The One". That guitar line became the intro guitar and inspired me to remake the song with a new vibe.

It's a song about love, doubt, and taking chances for both people involved. There are definitely personal connections for me, but it's also universal. We all bring some baggage to our relationships, and we have to work together in order to get past it.

Lyrics

I breathe in easy her atmosphere
She's been let down before, it's really clear
She says she doesn't want it to be just like before
And I know she doesn't want to be lonely anymore

Can I be the one to make everything alright
Can I be the one tonight
Can I be the light to make all her darkness bright
Can I be the one for her tonight
Can I be the one

Her eyes close slowly as she drifts away
And dreams of a time, a place, a love her way
She says she doesn't want to be hurt just like before
And I know she doesn't want to be angry anymore

Can I be the one to make everything alright
Can I be the one tonight
Can I be the light to make all her darkness bright
Can I be the one for her tonight
Tonight, tonight, tonight

She says she doesn't want it to be just like before
And I know she doesn't want to be lonely anymore

Can I be the one to make everything alright
Can I be the one tonight
Can I be the light to make all her darkness bright
Can I be the one for her tonight
Can I be the one
