Following on what I've done for my other song releases, here are some notes about the creation of "Happy Hour". Look for it on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pandora, etc.
Is there a backstory behind "Happy Hour"?
You betcha! My wife and I have been celebrating "Chappy Hour" every Friday for over a decade. We have snacks and drinks, mostly classic cocktails like Martinis, Manhattans, Sazeracs, etc. We chill listening to tunes, often old favorites on vinyl. Of course, traditional Happy Hours in local bars and restaurants are great for unwinding with friends, family, and colleagues. With Covid-19 hitting plenty of places pretty hard, I hope this song will inspire people to get back out there and support their local establishments.
Who is Harvey and why does he bang walls?
People who know me well know that I've got a sweet spot for Harvey Wallbangers. I just had to get a reference in there! Never had one? Look it up and give it a try. I have fond memories as a little kid of parties at the house with my dad mixing Harvey Wallbangers. In fact, he even had a Harvey Wallbanger t-shirt.
Who was involved in the recording and production?
For this one, I did all of the vocals, instrumentation, and production at my home studio. That's probably why it took a bit longer. I do want to acknowledge that there were several people who provided valuable feedback along the way. Thanks to all of you (you know who you are!).
Anything else notable about "Happy Hour"?
I wanted to write something simple, catchy, and fun. Something to get people singing along and into the weekend on a good note.
I hope you enjoy "Happy Hour", and please support your local establishments.
Cheers,
TMC
